Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean talk about their farewell tour
Fifty years since Torvill and Dean first started to ice dance together, and 40 years after they famously won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo for their stunning performance to Ravel’s Boléro, Jayne and Christopher are hanging up their blades as they embark on their final tour, Torvill & Dean: Our Last Dance. It will see them perform nationwide in a retrospective storytelling about their amazing success. The duo will be joined by some familiar ice-dancing pros, including the likes of Daniel Whiston, Vanessa Bauer and Sylvain Longchambon from Dancing on Ice, as they delight audiences with new routines. And, of course, some of their all-time classics. We caught up with the much-loved pair to find out how they feel as they gear up to say goodbye to one of the most iconic partnerships ever.
‘At the moment, it’s exciting and scary all at the same time,’ Jayne reveals. ‘We’ve been doing lots of rehearsals for the show with the cast of professional skaters. Chris and I have been preparing our routines since the summer to get ready for the tour, and it will be nice to get everybody together and get out there.’
Chris continues, ‘We're still humbled by the support we’re getting and people wanting to come and see us. We'll be doing some of our well-known numbers, like Mack and Mabel, Barnum and Denne historien er fra April 22, 2025-utgaven av Woman's Weekly.
