TALKING ABOUT...SELF-ACCEPTANCE, Precious Moments & Silver Linings with actress, podcast host and MS advocate JAMIE-LYNN SIGLER
First for Women
|February 24, 2025
FOR 15 YEARS, actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler had a secret. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at just 20 years old, while starring in HBO's hit series The Sopranos, Jamie-Lynn admits she was in denial.

But today, 23 years into her journey, the wife and mother of two has come to a place of acceptance. "I've learned to honor my experience, including making different choices, reflecting on my reality and reframing my life," Jamie-Lynn tells FIRST. "I'm most grateful for the people I have around me-they challenge me, inspire me and they accept me, which allows me to be my fully formed, messy self and to not feel the pressure to be anything but who I am in that moment." Here, Jamie-Lynn reveals the strategies that help her cherish all of life's moments with joy and confidence.
MY CONFIDENCE BOOSTER
Embracing who I am
"I grew up a perfectionist, but without much self-acceptance," Jamie-Lynn reveals. "But being in a body that has this disability and isn't perfect, this body that I now live in, I have more love and self-acceptance than I ever had. I allow passion and grace for myself. Instead of letting others define me, now I define who I am: I am somebody who always sees the good in people and is learning to see the good in herself."
