When it comes to Indian weddings, sweets are an essential part of the celebration — and the list of favourites is endless. No wedding feels complete without trays of colourful, melt-in-your-mouth mithai. The bond between sweets and Indian weddings is so deep that it often appears in movies and TV shows, symbolising love, celebration, and togetherness.

In today's big fat Indian weddings, known for their grand scale and week-long festivities, nothing is ordinary. The humble Indian mithai is no longer anything ordinary; it has come a long way from dadi's ke haath ke laddoos and halwa, to now finding new life with creative twists and modern makeovers.

Recently, Scandalous Foods did a survey which showed that 72% voted for traditional mithais over international desserts in weddings. It also highlighted a trend to watch out for - Mithai sundaes and shots in dessert glasses, predicted as the next big thing in wedding sweets. These compact, aesthetic servings may bridge the gap between tradition and modern plating, offering nostalgia in a contemporary avatar.
