Be a cheapskate

Want endless music but not so hot on paying for it? Spotify can stream for free. The catch: no offline saves, no high-quality audio, and no tinkering with your queue. Instead: ads, forced shuffle, and random tracks that it lobs into the mix. Splash out when you want better.

Feed the algorithm

Don't immediately judge Spotify by how quickly it can identify your love of hardcore Norwegian disco. Help it by following artists, saving albums, adding playlists and actually listening to songs. And if you dislike a band, use '...' > 'Don't play this artist' on their page, or skip their songs until it gets the hint.

Discover new music

Spotify doesn't want you looping the same albums until the end of time. That's why it offers algorithmic daily mixes and Discover Weekly, all based on your tastes.
