When DJI released the Neo in 2024, it proved that even a cheap drone could perform to a decent level - assuming you wanted supercharged selfies and short clips rather than pro-quality aerial footage. Just over 12 months later the DJI Neo 2 is here; and while it might look almost identical to its predecessor, the improvements run deeper than you might expect for a second-gen product.

The most significant upgrade is omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, which is a potential gamechanger for a drone with a propensity for flying into tree branches, plus there's a new two-axis gimbal and 49GB of onboard storage for filling with 4K video.

Given its light weight you might think you'd get away without registering your Neo 2, but recent changes to UK regulations mean you'll need to be on the Civil Aviation Authority's books before you can legally take to the sky.
