DAY 01

The Galaxy Z Fold7 might resemble its square-jawed predecessors from a distance, but the minute I have one in my hand it’s clear this is a far more elegant foldable than anything Samsung has made before.

It's about time, to be honest: challengers from China have been doing the thin thing for a few years now, while also stepping up on photography. The Samsung equivalents have been safe-bet upgrades, verging on boring. Not what you want when spending £1799.

At a mere 4.2mm when open and 8.9mm shut, the Fold7 has caught up in a big way. OK, it's not the world's thinnest, but I doubt many people are going to lose sleep over a fraction of a millimetre. Crucially, this 215g phone feels just like a normal handset in my hand and pocket, being 3g lighter than the S25 Ultra. It looks great too.
