The potent Threadripper 9970X makes this system a fine choice for 3D work

Both of Scan's entries this month take advantage of its early access to the Threadripper 9000 series. At this price it's the 32-core variant, while graphics come from Nvidia's consumer range - but this is still an incredibly potent piece of kit.

The Threadripper 9970X offers 32 cores (64 threads) with a base 4GHz clock and a 5.4GHz boost. This combines with 64GB of 5,600MHz DDR5 memory supplied as four 16GB DIMMs to take advantage of the processor's quad-channel bandwidth. This is a little below what we would like for a 32-core processor.
