Power and an all-out gaming design, plus mighty speakers, compensate for the mediocre camera setup

SCORE PRICE 18GB/512GB Supernova, £674 (£809 inc VAT) from uk.redmagic.gg
Unless you're an aficionado of mobile gaming the name of bells, but the bold design of the 7s Pro is hard to forget. At 10mm thick and 235g it's a substantial phone, and it's loaded with memory and storage. The standard £669 model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage, in a moody Obsidian colour scheme; I tested the 18GB model with 512GB of storage, which is available in shiny Mercury or the darkly translucent Supernova.
Whichever you choose, the entire front face is covered by the screen. There's no notch or hole: the front camera is wholly invisible underneath the display. This will probably be the norm in a few years, but right now it gives the 7s Pro an arrestingly clean UZE and expansive look.
The sides are starkly flat, while the back is curved glass. The 512GB version of the phone adds a window onto the internal fan, which is illuminated by coloured LEDs. At the top there's the rare treat of a 3.5mm headphone jack - and, even more unusual, a pair of touch-sensitive shoulder buttons at the corners for added control in games. Love it or hate it, it's a unique design.
