Superb overall performance turns a decent laptop into a serious contender, but opt for the £999 version
-
HP revamped its laptop branding last year, with its OmniBook range now stretching across home and business, budget and premium. We reviewed the stylish OmniBook Ultra Flip six months ago (see issue 365, p46), and now it's the turn of the plain OmniBook Ultra.
It costs £999 for the 16GB/512GB version, but the unit on test included 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Most importantly it packs the same AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 CPU. A quick look at our test results will tell you that it doesn’t always beat the Qualcomm- and Intel-based competition, but it’s close to the top of each benchmark. What's more, it steams ahead on 3D graphics performance and is the only laptop on test that will happily run most games. It isn’t a fully fledged games machine, but if you're looking for one laptop that can do it all, the Ultra 14 has you covered.
