A triple-camera drone targeted at the serious user, reflected in its restricted C2 category rating

-  JAMES ABBOTT

DJI Mavic 3 Pro

SCORE 5/5

PRICE £1,566 (£1,879 inc VAT) from store.dji.com

DJI's new high-end Mavic 3 Pro drone breaks the mould with a triple-camera array, providing huge flexibility for framing photos and videos.

Like the original Mavic 3 it comes in two models: a standard edition with 8GB of onboard storage, and a Cine version with a much larger 1TB SSD. The standard drone with DJI's regular RC controller will cost you £1,879, while the "Fly More" bundle adds two additional batteries, a carrying bag, a charging hub, ND filters and other useful accessories for £2,549. Step up to the RC Pro controller and you're looking at £3,169 for the bundle, while the top-end package with the RC Pro and the Mavic 3 Pro Cine vehicle will cost you £4,109.

The drone itself is a substantial thing. The gimbal and camera unit are visibly larger than those found on the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Classic - which is unsurprising, as this model is packing a 20MP main camera, a 48MP medium-telephoto unit and a 12MP telephoto. It folds out to a sizeable 347 X 291 X 108mm, excluding propellers, and it's a little heavier than previous models, weighing around 960g. This puts it into the European C2 classification, so uncertified flyers must keep it 50m away from bystanders, and at least 150m away from built-up areas - although A2 certificate holders can get closer.
