Sale told: Time you won again
The Rugby Paper
|January 12, 2025
PHILIPPE Saint-Andre has assessed Sale's title prospects and declared: "It's about time they won something again."
The Frenchman was in charge when the Sharks claimed their solitary Premiership title in 200506, famously hammering Leicester 45-20 at a rainsoaked Twickenham.
At the time, that victory under Brian Kennedy's ownership encouraged hopes of a sustained period of success for the Manchester-based club.
But it never happened and only in recent seasons have they re-emerged as a serious force again. The silverware club's only since Ged Mason and Simon Orange bought the club from Kennedy in 2016 was the Premiership Cup in 2020.
Yet Saint-Andre, below, told The Rugby Paper: "Two seasons ago, Sale reached the Premiership final and last year they lost in the play-off semi-final, so they've been in the mix.
"It's 19 years since we won the title and that's a long time, but all the guys see from that team are still in touch with each other in a WhatsApp group and we're going to have a 20-year anniversary get-together in 2026.
"I hope Sale can win the Premiership this year - that would be amazing and they're playing well.
