Pearson's power is enough to carry Saints past Cov

A BATTLING forward display in which flanker Tom Pearson produced a stand-out performance enabled Northampton to scrap their way past committed Championship leaders Coventry.
In front of a Butts Park Arena record crowd of 5,202 Saints scored three tries to two, with George Hendy’s against-the-elements, long-distance solo effort eventually the difference between the sides.
The Premiership champions were forced to dig deep defensively against a Coventry side who dominated the opening 40 minutes but only had Matt Kvesic’s try to show for it.
Although Ryan Hutler claimed Cov’s second score soon after the restart, Phil Dowson’s side then turned the tables.
Their well-organised lineout display and powerful driving maul produced a string of penalties from which Chunya Munga and Curtis Langdon went on to claim close-range tries.
