JOSH Beaumont prepares to put his body on the festive front line again in the Sale cause revealing his biggest “regret” has been not winning an England cap.

The forward, who has been part of the Sharks furniture since arriving straight from university to make his debut against Montpellier in 2013, came so close to stepping onto the Test stage when both Stuart Lancaster and Eddie Jones brought him into the England fold.

But having faced the Barbarians in 2015 and then involved in an Eddie Jones’ EPS squad, the Blackpool-born star watched others move ahead him in the queue. Despite huge efforts on the field – and in the gym and surgeon’s table – to try and force his way through the England door again, it refused to open for him.

Beaumont, 32, is proud of the near 200 appearances for Sharks and is preparing for another busy and physical festive period with Sale set for Premiership West Country trips to Bristol and Gloucester coming up.
