It all adds up again for forceful Ealing

EALING Trailfinders secured their second successive title this season and underlined their status as the division’s most dominant force.

The Londoners’ triumph was sealed in unspectacular fashion after a 20-12 loss to Doncaster Knights in the penultimate round but Ealing rounded off their campaign in style last weekend with a 59-12 victory over second-place Bedford.

Director of rugby Ben Ward was quick to highlight the character and consistency of his squad across a gruelling campaign. “That's what we're about,” he said. “We wanted to finish the season in the right way, and we did that. If we bring energy, accuracy and physicality like that, we're always going to cause teams problems.”

Statistical dominance is a key theme of Ealing’s Championship-winning season which featured: 18 wins from 20 matches, a total of 826 points scored the most in the league, an average winning margin of 25 points per game, 122 tries, more than any other side and only 376 points conceded, giving them the best defensive record as well.
