Horne hat-trick seals it for Sale

GEORGE Horne scored a stunning first-half hattrick as Glasgow made a statement of intent with a thumping opening European Champions Cup victory over Sale at Scotstoun.
The URC champions had a bonus point in the bag by the 24th minute with Kyle Rowe and Huw Jones also crossing before another Scotland international, Scott Cummings, drove over to settle the contest with Warriors’ sixth try.
Franco Smith’s side will head to France next Sunday to face Toulon in rampant form while Sale will have to lick their wounds before hosting Racing 92 on Friday.
Warriors were off to a flyer with a try inside three minutes. Matt Fagerson bounced off a Sharks defender and offloaded to Jones, who in turn fed Horne on a trademark support line to sprint through for his opener. Within 10 minutes Horne had his 49th Glasgow try, joining Tommy Seymour in joint-second place in Warriors’ all-time list.
