Rhinos third as KR suffer only second defeat of the season
Yorkshire Evening Post
|July 07, 2025
Leeds Rhinos produced a second-half performance out of the top drawer to stun table-topping Hull KR on their own patch yesterday.
-
With Leigh Leopards and St Helens having both won earlier in the round, Rhinos were down to fifth in Betfred Super League when the game kicked off.
A win for Hull KR would have opened a six-point advantage at the top of the table and meant the league leaders' shield was theirs to lose. It looked like that would be the case at halftime, when the hosts led 8-0. Rhinos hung on in the first 40; they occasionally looked like they might threaten on their left flank, but didn’t create any sustained pressure.
The home side would have been further clear, but forward passes cost them three tries and that proved decisive after the break as Leeds completed a marvellous 14-8 success.
