Radiotherapy advances speed up cancer care across our city

Ernesto Rogata scans his body every day to check for any changes - it has long been second nature.

The Yorkshire-based Italian photographer, who is now 60, learned the hard way. In 1996, while living in Rome, he had a melanoma on his chest initially misdiagnosed.

It was only diagnosed as cancer two years later and, by then, had spread to his lung, bowel and stomach. Despite this, he was cancer-free by 2005.

But earlier this year he found he needed to urinate more often and with greater urgency.

After contacting his GP online, Ernesto was told the hospital could give him a PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) test that day.
