Making work ‘work’ for carers across the UK

According to Carers UK's State of Caring report, two-fifths (40 per cent) of carers in the UK have left employment entirely to provide care for an ill, older, or disabled friend or family member and 22 per cent of carers have reduced their working hours to better balance their caring responsibilities.

These adjustments-and reductions in pay-can often lead to carers facing financial strain and hardship and even experiencing poverty.

To address these challenges the CIPD continues to advocate for enhanced employer support, including flexible working arrangements and paid carer’s leave, where possible.

Carers need flexibility
