Just another manic Mandy as Morgan's mini sitcoms return

Driving an ice cream van - it's one of the dream jobs little kids mention when they're asked what they want to do when they grow up.

Just another manic Mandy as Morgan's mini sitcoms return

However, it's not as simple as jumping behind the wheel of your local Mr Whippy wagon and handing out the 99s-as Mandy Carter finds to her disappointment.

It's just one of the scenarios that the titular star of Diane Morgan's short-form sit com finds herself in.

Morgan-you'll know her from Motherland and Philomena Cunk - promised this latest series would bring more "violence and catastrophe". And the first two episodes did pretty much that.

The 15-minute segments follow the adventures of chaotic job hunter Carter, whose adventures invariably end in disaster. It's actually in its fourth series but somehow I've missed the previous ones so am coming to it with a fresh eye.

Which is more than can be said for Mandy herself. She's single and jobless but views every vacancy with a jaundiced eye and a plentiful helping of scepticism.

The opening episode sees Mandy forced to enrol in a back-to-work training scheme run by her sensationally dull employment officer (Tom Basden).
