Boxing played key role in helping four Leeds brothers cope with tragedy

While training together at Al Osta's Farsley gym, four young men from Leeds took time to explain how the sport has been central to their coping with tragedy as the three prepare to compete on Osta's September 6 show.
Former Horsforth School students Joe and Andy Walshaw lost their brother Matty in a car accident in Horsforth in 2018, and Max and Sam Duffy's mother passed away in 2019.
"I started Thai Boxing at six," said factory worker Andy, 22. "I was 15 when Matty died. I've had to get used to it and just carried on with life.
"Matty's never left either of us. It's important to make him proud. Losing him has made me focus, given me a goal. I've always loved the challenge of a fight. Joe and I compete regularly on Jamal Promotions, but these bouts are hopefully stepping stones to fulfilling my ambition to box as a professional.
