Major funding injection to save historic Westcountry structures

MUCH-LOVED historic buildings and sites in the Westcountry will be saved for future generations as part of a £15 million cash injection for urgently-needed repairs.

The Heritage at Risk Capital Fund, led by Historic England and funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, will rescue 37 listed buildings and sites facing dereliction or demolition across the country, ranging from Victorian market halls to medieval churches.

The one-year fund prioritises heritage sites serving disadvantaged communities and which demonstrate strong local benefits, from job creation to cultural events.
