HAD it not been for a series of injuries throughout his career Brendan Galloway could have played regularly in the Premier League.

- CHRIS ERRINGTON

However, Galloway has accepted that ‘injuries are part of it’ and given the circumstances he has had to deal with he is grateful to have spent the last four years at Plymouth Argyle.

Galloway played in the Premier League for Everton, making his debut at the age of 19, and also on loan to West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of his football journey, but now is on the verge of clocking up 100 appearances for the Pilgrims.

The 29-year-old defender could reach that milestone when Argyle take on Rotherham United at Home Park today, after which he will join up with the Zimbabwe squad for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco later this month.

Galloway said: “Happy, proud to play 100 games if I’m selected. I love the football club, I have been here a while, so really thankful for the support during my time, from the fans, from the coach, from my teammates.

“It's a family club. I have experienced a lot of stuff but I felt like throughout everything we always stick together. The fans play a major part in that, the people, the city.

“We are just all together as one. When we have got the support and the backing we have there is no better feeling as a footballer”

Galloway continued: “I don’t think I have missed a game this season yet through injury. Hopefully that continues. I'm just trying to do everything the right way to stay on the pitch to have the privilege of putting the green shirt on every single game.
