Array of stars appearing at literary festival

The du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival is under way, with a packed schedule including talks on politics, music and history. Athwenna Irons reports

SIR Michael Morpurgo, award-winning author Joanne Harris and broadcaster John Suchet are among the stars appearing at this year's du Maurier Fowey Literary Festival which has got underway.

Running until Saturday, May 17, the event has been rebranded to include reference to famous novelist Daphne du Maurier who made Fowey her home.

As well as celebrities from the worlds of fiction, non-fiction, broadcast and politics, there will be music gigs, an art trail and visits to secret gardens.

Lynn Goold, festival trustee and chair, said: "Our festival director, Brenda Daly, has organised another amazing events programme and we are very grateful to her and the many volunteers and supporters who make our annual celebration of the arts possible.
