Man fled country after being caught with 60,000 illegal tablets

A MAN was caught at Cardiff Airport with 30,000 Valium tablets in his bags, a court has heard.

Joseph Whitbread was flying home from his job in Ghana via Amsterdam when officers intercepted him and found pills with a street value of £60,000.
Swansea Crown Court heard that 39-year-old Whitbread subsequently skipped bail and returned to his work in the oil industry.
‘A judge told the defendant he had shown a “complete disregard for the legal process”,
Matt Murphy, prosecuting, told the court that on July 14 last year Whitbread flew to Cardiff Airport.
In his bags, officers found 30,067 diazepam tablets, along with 300 pregabalin tablets. Both substances are class C controlled drugs.
