Ewe filmed 'collapsing' as dog runs after lamb

A WARNING has been issued to dog owners after a video caught a dog chasing a ewe, which appeared to collapse as it tried to protect its lamb.
The footage, which was captured earlier this month, shows a small dog pursuing the sheep and a ewe was found dead in the field the following day.
Gloucestershire Police are warning dog owners that even if the dog does not bite livestock, the stress of being chased can kill them.
In the footage, which was captured by a member of the public on Saturday, April 12, a brown spaniel-type dog can be seen running around a field near Winchcombe Cricket Club.
Being chased can cause sheep to become extremely stressed or injured, and can be fatal.
A Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman said: "We have released the footage to highlight how even if an owner thinks their dog will not physically attack livestock, dogs running around with them or chasing them may cause significant harm.
"At one point the ewe appears to collapse mid-chase while trying to protect its lamb.
