Triple engine govt will resolve Mahanadi water dispute amicably: CM Majhi

The government has the biggest role to play in water conservation and management, but it is essential for everyone to contribute at the individual and collective levels, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Addressing a World Water Day function here on Saturday, the CM said he had discussed the Mahanadi water dispute with his Chhattisgarh counterpart today and since there is a triple engine government, the dispute will be resolved amicably.
He reaffirmed his government's commitment on water conservation and water management. We are paying attention to how water will reach the farmers living at the lower end of the canal. We have set a target to irrigate an additional 15 lakh hectares of land in the next five years i.e., by 2029. An outlay of Rs 14,841 crore has been allocated in this year's budget for the protection of water resources and its proper management.
