Moore says Vale just 'don't know when they're beaten'

EYES ON THE BALL: Jordan Gabriel holds off Steve Seddon of AFC Wimbledon.

Darren Moore said: “We picked a lineup with a bit of flair and power and goals in it, as well as defensive resolve. I felt that was right for the type of game I predicted.

“We were excellent in the first half, it was after 30 minutes when Wimbledon fashioned a corner.

“But I just thought on three or four occasions in the first half we might have capitalised better.

“In the second half, as you would expect from the home team, they had a go for about ten or 15 minutes, but then I thought the pendulum swung back in our favour.

“We then gave away a soft goal from our point of view. It was their only clear chance in the game. But I have to give the boys credit. They don’t know when they are beaten.”

Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson said his fifth-placed team couldn’t argue with the result as their five-game winning run came to an end.

He said: “It was a tough, fiercely competitive, very hard-fought, close game. It was probably a fair result on reflection.
