School bus burst into flames on excursion

A COACH carrying Newcastle schoolchildren caught fire during an excursion in Germany.
A total of 31 pupils and four teachers from Dame Allan’s independent school in Fenham were on board when the blaze broke out in the rear engine compartment of the vehicle. Two bus drivers were also on board.
The hired coach was travelling from the ferry to a youth hostel outside Cologne when the coach ignited between Einruhr and Vogelsang. Everyone was safely evacuated from the vehicle before it burst into flames.
Several passports and some luggage which had remained on the bus were damaged in the incident.
