Board member Amy draws on her strong roots
The Journal
|June 03, 2025
A NEWCASTLE woman turned entrepreneur who grew up in social housing is sharing her success story after having been appointed to a top position.
Amy Mooney joined a development programme aimed at opening boardroom opportunities to people from all walks of life and has become the first from her cohort to secure a board position.
The organisation that launched the initiative - Believe Housing is one of the largest housing associations in the North East. Its two-year Board Trainee Programme was created to increase the diversity of non-executive directors across the social housing and third sectors.
Five people with a wide range of personal and professional experiences from charity leadership and consultancy to parenting and community volunteering all completed the scheme in December. And now one of them, Amy, has now been appointed to the Believe Housing board.
