Tavistock look to build on fine Mousehole win

FOR years now, Tavistock and Exmouth Town have been the closest of rivals, climbing the non-league steps and trading blows, whilst almost spurring each other on to glory.

Tavistock look to build on fine Mousehole win

It started when the Lambs pipped Town to the last ever South West Peninsula League Premier Division title in the 2018/19 season. The two were both promoted to the Western League and two years later, were neck and neck once again before Tavi took the title on the last day of the season with an injury time penalty by their talismanic striker of the time, Liam Prynn.

Again, both were promoted to Southern League Division One South, but while Tavi initially held a slender superiority over their cross-County rivals, Exmouth have steadily grown and established themselves as one of the bigger clubs in the division, overtaking the Lambs in the process.

Last season, Exmouth reached the end of season playoffs after a stellar campaign that saw them finish fifth. Tavistock, on the other hand, are now fighting to stay in the league as the financial demands of competing at Step Four level take their toll at Langsford Park.

Tomorrow, their rivalry will renew once again on the Moors and it is the visitors that will start as clear favourites.
