LESS than 0.1% of Plymouth’s population have responded to a survey on plans for Plymouth's Civic Centre.

- By ALISON STEPHENSON

The iconic post war building is due to undergo a £50 million revamp and last month people were asked their views on proposals to transform it into 144 high quality apartments and a City College blue/green skills campus.

A number of events were held in the city during this time to engage the public.

Despite a low survey response - just over 200 people took part - 250,000 people viewed the various social media posts and there were 13,000 visitors to the consultation website, with 406 subscribing to it.

Plymouth City Council’s head of regeneration and growth Emma Wilson told the authority's cabinet meeting that 66% of the people who responded to the survey were supportive of the redevelopment, and 47% ‘very’ supportive and 19 ‘quite’ supportive.

Young people were particularly positive describing the visuals produced by the design team as "lively and inviting” and 62% felt positive about the City College skills hub location, with 19% having negative views.
