Dixon and Gale do enough to claim the victory
The Herald
|November 13, 2025
WHEN it came to totalling up the points in the Men's B clash, Simon Dixon and Dave Gale actually had less points than Simon and Matthew May but as Simon and Dave won two sets, they picked up the bonus points which gave them the overall win.
It was all very even in the first set, then Dave and Simon pulled away to take it 6-3. In the second set, Simon and Matthew played much better and stayed ahead for most of it until Dave and Simon managed to force a tiebreak. Again this was close and they managed to win it 7-5.
The final set saw the father and son dominate with some excellent serving from Matthew and they raced away to a 4-0 lead. Simon then won his serve and they thought they were starting the comeback. However this wasn’t to be and Simon and Matthew easily took the final set 6-1.
Two unbeaten pairs also met in a Men's B clash as Jack and Brian Morgan took on Phil Whitby and John Putnam. In gloomy conditions, the Morgans started quickly taking the first set 6-1.
John and Phil battled back but, after nearly two hours, Brian and Jack completed a 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Miki Booth and Kevin Wilkins enjoyed some very long rallies and great winning shots as their 5-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory against Andew Regan and Pete Ireland ebbed and flowed.
Rhys Williams and Ryan Parsons' consistent hitting helped them as they beat Jason Sweby and sub Mark Green in Men's A 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
