Urban park bridge now locked in

THE base of a land bridge that forms a key milestone of the forthcoming Stockton Waterfront urban park has been installed.

The 55m-wide bridge, which will provide a route through the new urban park connecting High Street to the River Tees, was formed with 47 precast concrete beams.

It will run above a realigned A1305 Riverside Road, and the works have been hailed as a "significant step forward" in the Stockton Waterfront regeneration project.

The next phase will involve pouring 170 cubic metres of concrete to cast the bridge deck, then installing paving and resin to make a “seamless public realm open space”.
