Uy appeals to devotees: 'Keep Cebu City clean'

With novena Masses to the Señor Santo Niño already underway and Sinulog activities drawing thousands into the Queen City of the South, Cebu Archbishop Abet Uy has appealed to devotees to keep Cebu clean.

In his message, Archbishop Uy reminded the faithful that honoring the Santo Niño is not only expressed in prayer and procession but is also reflected in responsible action.

"True devotion to the Sto. Niño is shown not only on our lips, but in our actions," he said, urging devotees to be mindful of their garbage during the ongoing novena Masses, foot processions, and the fluvial parade.

The appeal comes as Cebu City continues to struggle with a garbage collection and disposal crisis following the temporary shutdown of the Binaliw landfill after its collapse last Thursday, which left several people dead and others trapped.
