The City of Mandaue opens its 56th Charter Anniversary celebration today, August 8, 2025, with more than 20 activities for the month-long celebration.
-
Under the theme, “Stronger as One: Mandaue at 56,” and organized under the city’s evolving identity as “One Mandaue,” the celebration will feature a diverse lineup of events that highlight health, sports, culture, and civic engagement.
The Mandaue City Government has allocated P21 million to carry out this month-long celebration, which is the same as last year’s budget. Mandaue was granted cityhood on August 30, 1969, through Republic Act 5519.
For the first time, the Mandaue City Government will organize a medical mission on Saturday, August 9, bringing general medical checkups and services to at least 600 participants from the city’s 27 barangays.
This first medical mission is in partnership with various stakeholders in the city, including the City Health Office and Unilab.
During the media launch yesterday, August 7, the City Administrator said that this is an additional activity aligned with the goals of the new administration led by Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano.
“Because Charter Day activities normally only involve city hall offices and barangays. This time, there’s a medical mission in the schedule,” said City Administrator Gonzalo Malig-on Jr.
