DOTr launches Libreng Sakay in Cebu

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) officially launched the Libreng Sakay program in Cebu yesterday, July 23, 2025, marking a significant move to address transportation needs in one of the busiest urban areas in the region.

The Libreng Sakay program, however, as an initial implementation, will only be availed of the route from Parkmall to Urgello and vice versa, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, prioritizing passengers during the most critical commute hours.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said as the administration expand the program, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is studying to implement another route, which is the Talisay City to IT Park and vice versa.
When asked as to how long this program will end, Dizon said, "Pwede ito maging forever. While the President is in office until 2028. Hangga't kaya, tuluy-tuloy ito."
