The Department of Health-Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD) intensified its PuroKalusugan program, aiming to bring comprehensive primary healthcare services directly to barangays across the region.

Dr. Nelmer D. Umos, head of the Health Systems Development Section of DOH-7, emphasized the program's goal to decentralize health services and ensure that every Filipino has access to essential medical care.

"Gusto nato nga ang health is accessible, makab-ot, matagamtaman sa tagsa-tagsa katawhan," said Umos.

The program aligns with the DOH's Eight-Point Action Agenda, which prioritizes areas such as immunization, nutrition, water sanitation, maternal health, tuberculosis and HIV screening, road safety, non-communicable disease prevention, and cancer treatment.

In Central Visayas, DOH-7 has identified 303 priority barangays across Cebu Province, Bohol, and highly-urbanized cities for the initial implementation of PuroKalusugan.

Each local government unit (LGU) is encouraged to select three priority barangays with significant health burdens to receive focused interventions.
