DURING ARCHBISHOP UY'S INSTALLATION

The Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) has demanded accountability and denounced the use of physical force and harassment against reporters covering the arrival and formal installation of Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy.

In a statement, CFBJ—an organization composed of legitimate reporters, cameramen, and photojournalists in Cebu—said its members experienced “unacceptable” treatment during Uy’s arrival as Archbishop-Designate at Pier 1 on Sunday, September 28, and during his canonical installation at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral yesterday.

The group said complaints were raised against members of the volunteer group Kabalikat 940 Metro Cebu Chapter, who allegedly resorted to physical harassment against journalists covering the events.
