Surat man shot dead in US motel attack

A tragic shooting incident in the United States has claimed the life of Rakesh Dhirubhai Patel (50), a native of Rayam village in Bardoli taluka of Surat district.

Patel, who worked as a motel manager in Robinson Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot on Friday evening while trying to intervene during a violent altercation outside his workplace.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, the incident began when Stanley Eugene West (37) opened fire in the parking lot of the motel during an argument with his female companion. Hearing the commotion, Patel stepped outside to investigate — an act of courage that tragically cost him his life.
