Newcastle will look to end a desperately long trophy drought on Sunday when they take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

It will, however, be a major shock if Eddie Howe's injury and suspension-hit Magpies can take down Arne Slot's rampant Reds.

It has been close to 56 years since Newcastle last won major honours.

In 1969, the Magpies beat Hungarian side Ujpest 6-2 on aggregate to lift the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (the competition later became the Uefa Cup and is now the Uefa Europa League).
