Busa to meet Cyril over villains in state capture

Amid growing pressure on Business Unity South Africa (Busa) to withdraw the appointment of state capture-implicated foreign firms from playing a strategic role in the G20 and in the Energy Council of South Africa, Busa CEO Cas Coovadia, yesterday said the body representing big business would meet President Cyril Ramaphosa on the matter.

With the Presidency, the Black Business Council (BBC) and veteran UK-based anti-apartheid veteran Peter Hain having been the first to express unhappiness with the appointment of Bain and McKinsey, labour has become the latest to oppose the companies from playing a role in South Africa.

There has been increasing concerns about the appointment of McKinsey as a supporting partner to the B20 - an engagement group coordinating the participation of business in next year's G20.

The Presidency, labour, BBC and Hain have also expressed unease at the appointment of Bain to the project management office of Energy Council of South Africa.
