ATNS seeks expiring flight procedures extension

State-owned Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS) is set to ask the Civil Aviation Authority for an extension on 31 flight procedures that expire on 10 April.

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy said at the ATNS head office on Monday, if not granted, flights would be affected.

She said 66 of the 300 flight procedures were set to expire affecting, among others, OR Tambo, Cape Town, King Shaka and Lanseria international airports.

Flight procedures are the standardised processes and regulations that pilots, air traffic controllers and airline operators follow to ensure safe and efficient air travel.
