Thank them for making the TRIP! Kieran is furious at glum stars
The Chronicle
|November 10, 2025
KIERAN Trippier demanded to Newcastle United players to get over and applaud the travelling support as the inquest of another away-day disaster began for the Magpies.
Furious Trippier ordered senior stars over to show some appreciation for the 1,716 fans who'd battled through another weekend of travel chaos thanks to disruptions on the East Coast Mainline. The former fullback looked disgusted as he made his way off the field and glum-faced Toon stars trudged off.
If West Ham had been shocking, this wasn’t much better, with some Sunday-league defending on show as Newcastle failed to cope with the inevitable throw-in bombardment despite boasting a clutch of stars over six-foot tall. This wasn’t a one-off, by the way.
Newcastle have now just won four games in 15 Premier League games and collected 16 points from the last available 45. True, United are going great guns in the Carabao Cup and Champions League - but this is relegation form and the Premier League table does not lie.
The Magpies will spend the international break in 14th place, two points above the relegation zone, and have Manchester City up next.
Handing out gift-wrapped goals like this could result in another battering.
United conjured up the first goal attempt after Harvey Barnes played Bruno Guimaraes in down the right, but he scooped his shot high and wide on four minutes. Brentford responded three minutes later, but Kevin Schade’s header was never troubling Nick Pope.
