Jake Helm's experience won the day when his Herrington Burn A team were held 5-5 at home to Brandon Outlaws in Division One of the Sunderland Table Tennis League.
After beating Phil Hansom 3-0 and Dave Brown 3-1, Peter Flowers gave Helm his toughest test in a five-set (13-11 fifth) thriller.
There were draws elsewhere for Unionist A at St Gabriel's, and St Chad's, who hosted Old England Legends.
Richard Wilson and Rowan Jones for Unionists and Legends proving unstoppable.
At the summit, there is no stopping unbeaten Mount True Roof, who went 20 points clear over Chads in second - their latest victory a 7-3 home win over St Gabriel's West.
