'Bread and butter' issues are what matter, they insist

- BY SOPHIE HUSKISSON

LABOUR MPs are taking the fight to Nigel Farage by showing how the party is delivering on “bread and butter” issues.

Helena Dollimore told us voters want visible changes in their areas, like potholes being filled, better sport facilities, and dog poo bins.

The Hastings and Rye MP said: “We hear a lot of talk from Reform but they never have any real solutions to the problems that we face.”

She is backing the fight to bring Eurostar trains back to Ashford international station describing their suspension since 2020 as an “absolute scandal”.

Think tank the Good Growth Foundation says it could deliver up to £2.7billion in economic growth for the South East in the next five years.

Ms Dollimore is one of several MPs we spoke to who are at risk of losing their seats to Reform UK.

In the summer, a poll showed Mr Farage’s party would win 271 seats in an election, with Labour getting just 178. Peterborough MP Andrew Pakes said Reform had no plan to improve life in the city.
