HAWK Green took the lengthy journey to Tattenhall on Saturday where, upon winning the toss, the Green skipper Dylan Heginbotham, elected to take first knock.

Late wickets turn tide Green's way

Green opened with Josh Hampson and Lewis Clarke against the Tattenhall opening attack of Waddelove and Mobbs.

Both bowlers extracted bounce and movement from the wicket, giving the batsmen a difficult time and it was Hampson who fell first, caught Hyslop bowled Waddelove for a duck, 1-1.

Jack Needham was next to the crease and suddenly batting seemed a whole lot easier as he stroked the ball beautifully, hitting five fours before he received a brute of a ball from change bowler Cheshire and was caught behind by Sand-ford for 28, 43-2.

Sam Messih joined Clarke at the crease and for someone who normally looks so calm in the crease it was obvious that not only the bowling was testing his patience but outside influences were aggravating his concentration.

Clarke was next to fall, caught behind off the bowling of Cheshire for 19, 64-3. He was replaced by skipper Heginbotham who almost immediately lost Messih, caught Mobbs bowled Cheshire for just 7, 75-4.

Lee Hallas was next to the crease and also next to leave as he was given out lbw, an atrocious decision as the ball struck him on his hip, 77-5.
