Finn Russell will make his first start in the famous red shirt of the British and Irish Lions on the long-awaited 2025 tour as he lines up for the select side in Perth on Saturday.

- STUART MCFARLANE

The 33-year-old, from Bridge of Allan, has been named in the fly-half position for the Lions’ first match Down Under against Western Force - with coach Andy Farrell hoping he can sprinkle some confidence and stardust to the unit after a disappointing defeat to Argentina.

Russell is named as one of three Scots in the starting XV, with Edinburgh prop Pierre Schoeman, Glasgow Warriors’ second-rower Scott Cummings and Scotland captain, centre Sione Tuipulotu, also included.

Meanwhile, another Glasgow player, Scotland centre Huw Jones, is named on the bench andis likely to make his debut.
