Rail firms 'need to put town station back on track'

CALLS have been made for improvements at Carmarthen railway station.

MP for Carmarthen, Ann Davies, has held talks with rail bosses over the closure of the station cafe, reports of unclean toilets, as well as the reliability of train times.

Mrs Davies met with Transport for Wales and Network Rail at the station to raise issues directly.

Complaints from commuters include the state of toilets, with some claiming they are often closed and in need of cleaning.

Other issues raised included graffiti, rubbish and broken glass on approach to the station, especially on the path from the Pensarn direction.

One constituent, posting on a Facebook thread about the station, said they had "walked around the railway station" and branded it "a disgrace to Carmarthen.
