Investigation after string of arson attacks at city park

POLICE are investigating the latest incident of arson plaguing a Welsh park, which has caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage. Parc Melin Mynach in Gorseinon, Swansea, has been targeted in a campaign of antisocial behaviour in recent months.
On Sunday, October 12, the fire service was called there twice, after a "deliberately set" refuse fire followed by an incident in which a storage container was set alight.
The Friends of Parc Melin Mynach said the container fire meant it had lost "essential equipment" costing more than £6,000.
It has said it "urgently" now needs the help of the community to provide information on the series of incidents "before someone is seriously hurt".
It follow the destruction of play equipment, including a birds' nest swing, on Sunday, October 5, and two benches being set alight back in January, acts described as "mindless vandalism" by community leaders.
"Our community group's storage container was set alight, completely destroying its contents and leaving the container itself damaged beyond repair," a statement from yhe Friends of Parc Melin Mynach read.
"The estimated cost of the damage exceeds £6,000.
