A MAN from Stoke caught dealing drugs in a shop car park in Swansea said he was in the city to visit a beach for his birthday, a court has heard.

Thomas Hulson also claimed to have no idea what the items in his underwear were, and said people had thrown things into the car in which he was sitting.

A judge at Swansea Crown Court described the 23-year-old's account as "highly implausible", and the court heard that messages found on Hulson's phone showed he had been involved in supplying heroin and cocaine.

Hulson's advocate said while being held on remand awaiting sentence his client had reflected upon the choices he had made in life.

Craig Jones, prosecuting, told the court that on April 14 this year police in Swansea were made aware of a Renault Twingo car in the city which was displaying stolen and cloned plates.

He said officers tracked the car down to the B&M store in Cwmdu and noticed Hulson in the back of the vehicle in company with a known Class A drug user.

The court heard officers moved in and spoke to Hulson who told them he was in Swansea to visit a beach for his birthday.
